Kylle Been (she, her)
An interdisciplinary artist with a scientific interest, creating work that is intrinsically thought-provoking and has the power to transform the mind of the viewer. I have a fervent desire to preserve neurohealth, and the natural environment and reduce human waste, which serves as the driving force behind my creative endeavors. My art practice includes various media such as clay, metal, and natural fibers. I create work that is intertwined with current neurological findings, geology, history, and philosophical conflict.
Here are a few examples of my work and how they express my passion and vision. I constructed a multiple brain clay sculptor that shows three different neuro systems, neuroplasticity, synapses neurons, and circuits. This work shows the brain in actual adult size with exaggerated details to bring attention to the importance of individual functions. Another work I would like to highlight is a large-scale of two faces and a clay vessel that is painted with acrylic and wet clay. This represents the intermixing of human-made and earth-based materials. This is my take on a traditional psychological image. When some people view the image, they see a delicate vase, when others see it, they see two faces gazing at one another. Addressing the question of how our mind and perceptions play a role in our environment and our interpersonal relationships.
By conveying deep-seated biases that are intertwined within our collective understanding of life and humanity’s unconscious understanding of the world and how it works. My determination is to develop interactive work to engage the viewer to reach outside of their comfort zone and transform their bodies, minds, and environment. I have a strong belief that the inner work of individuals can and will manifest social change in our personal lives and the global environment. Inspired by the idea of inhabiting a world brimming with peace, hope, and profound connections between individuals. I am creating a body of work that is beckoning the viewers to share in the experience of joy and camaraderie.
Each day I embark on a battle between my higher potential and my darkest fears. This integral struggle serves as a vivid representation of both vibrant, colorful flowers of hope and the void of what I think I should have already created for my life. Embracing serendipity, I find myself in a world that is counter to the current pop culture and the daily news feed. I bravely maintain an alignment with my true self, I create works that carry the potential to pull others out of the dark cesspool of noise and pollution of our modern times and into the ever-expanding collective consciousness that I believe we are all intertwined with. After crossing the boundary between youth and adult I am bravely stepping out of a dark hopeless perception of life into a thriving creative artist life.
In summary, my art boldly asserts its mission as a vessel of hope and sustainability. Having a mission to inspire a peaceful, hopeful world by breathing new life into forgotten objects and human connections. My art fosters connections among people and encourages appreciation for the simple beauty that surrounds us all. Art has a profound mission to inspire people to see the future and our global world from a different perspective and work to change the archaic systems that the world clings to.
